Nestled in the charming streets of Šibenik, Konoba Marenda is a delightful culinary gem that celebrates authentic Croatian home cooking with simple yet deeply satisfying flavors. This cozy, unpretentious restaurant at Ul. Nove crkve 9 invites diners to experience traditional dishes crafted from fresh, local ingredients that capture the essence of Croatia’s rich gastronomic heritage.
The menu at Konoba Marenda leans into hearty, homemade fare that comforts and nourishes. Diners often rave about the daily specials, which might include rustic delights such as beef and peas stew, bean and pasta soup, or perfectly fried calamari. The kitchen’s fish dishes, especially the sardines, stand out for their freshness and the gentle, deliberate preparation that brings out their natural flavors without overwhelming complexity. These are the kinds of meals that make you feel as though you’ve stepped into a Croatian grandmother’s kitchen—rich in authenticity and generous in portion size.
The dining atmosphere echoes the spirit of Šibenik itself—warm, unpretentious, and wonderfully inviting. Guests appreciate the intimate setting where service is friendly but discreet, allowing the focus to remain on the food and the shared experience. The presence of a charming hostess adds a personal touch that enhances the overall ambiance, making it feel less like a restaurant and more like an extended welcome into Croatian culture.
While Konoba Marenda’s menu may be limited, this restraint is a deliberate part of its charm—it champions quality over quantity, focusing on a curated selection of dishes done exceptionally well. This approach, combined with the fair pricing, has won the hearts of locals and travelers alike who crave authentic home-cooked meals that stand apart from the often repetitive offerings typical in many other Croatian eateries.
One cannot help but agree with the sentiment that this is a place one could visit every day, savoring each bite and returning to that comforting warmth again and again. Of course, it’s wise to arrive with an appetite and a patient spirit since popular dishes can sell out quickly, but the guarantee is a genuine taste of Croatian tradition and heartfelt hospitality.
For those seeking a culinary adventure that’s honest, flavorful, and steeped in local charm, Konoba Marenda is a must-visit. Just remember to bring your taste buds—and maybe a little patience for that perfectly sour lemonade!

There was only 1 available daily menu. We didn't get any salt for our food. We liked the taste of the sardines. The lemonade was super sour.

I could eat here everyday! Most Croatian restaurants are fairly repetitive with their options. This one has some great home style dishes that you won't find elsewhere. Check out the daily specials. Great value as well.

I enjoyed the food, they have very good fish, well cooked and served. Nevertheless, there are not many dining options, the day we want most of the dishes they were sold off, and even if they had not been, there was not that much to choose among. Dishes were also cooked quite simple and side dishes very limited. It made the experience quite bland and boring. You can pay with card and service is very friendly and kind.

I feel lucky to have found this place! The food was delicious, homemade dishes that nourish and comfort you. When we went there, the 2 dishes of the day were bean and pasta soup and beef and peas stew. Both were very good, and the portions are more than generous. The fried calamary that we shared was also very very good. Like others said, there aren't many options, but I personally prefer a place that specialises in a few dishes done well, over one that has tens of dishes and it's a loterry when you order. The waiter was polite and friendly and the service was quick. 10/10

A wonderfully atmospheric 40 minutes spent enjoying a true culinary feast, because there's no other way to describe it. A fantastic, charming place with a homely feel that really captures the spirit of Croatia. It's not overly fussy, just delicious, clean, and pleasant—and I must emphasise again, incredibly tasty. We were welcomed by a lovely older lady. I really recommend it, but be careful! Don't wait until the last minute, because once they run out of the food prepared for the day, the place closes. We were lucky to eat around 3 pm, but after that, no more people were allowed in. Still, I highly recommend it—you’ll definitely be as satisfied as my girlfriend and I were.
